Fire and Ice will make the appropriate adjustments to your HVAC system for proper airflow delivery with air duct balancing. Systems need to be balanced when they are first installed. We will ensure the balancing & commissioning of your HVAC systems once the installing contractor has finished their work and before you take occupancy of your home.
Generally, balancing is only required just once in an HVAC system’s life; however, occasionally it is performed again after the system has aged or has been modified.
The resistance to airflow is the only thing that determines how much air reaches each room. Fire and Ice will ensure the balancing of airflow in a forced air heating or cooling system will meet the requirements of the design to maximize efficiency and comfort.
As well, we will balance water flow in a radiant heating or cooling system to meet the requirements of the design and to maximize efficiency and comfort. When a water based heating or cooling system is designed, a certain flow rate (gallons or litres per minute) is required to maintain comfort in the space. Each loop or circuit requires a different flow rate based on the heating or cooling requirements of the space and the length of the piping. These flow rates are adjusted at the time of commissioning to meet the design.
